<p style='text-align: justify;'>Black and white snapshot of Ratcliffe and Rutherford in the laboratory in 1934. An illuminated notice: 'Talk Softly Please' hangs above Rutherford's head. Rutherford is telling Ratcliffe that he has obtained £400 for the radio group to build a small field station. Rutherford had a very loud voice and the particle counters were microphonically very sensitive. The illuminated notice was installed to prevent the counters being disturbed. Wynn-Williams switched on the light and took this iconic photograph in January 1935. The bank of batteries was used to power Wynn-Williams' scale of two counter.</p>
